Allison and Levi were very friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure it was a great experience. Boat was comfortable. We got lucky and saw a competition of male whales competing behind a female and baby. Incredible experience with breach, etc. pictures don’t do it justice.

Our favorite excursion in Maui was Makai whale watching. The boat was large enough to feel safe and small enough to get up close and personal with whales. It starts with oooohhhs and aahhhs as you see the first spout or fin. That’s when the spidey sense of Levi and Allison kicks in. While Allison shares facts and behaviors of humpback whales, Levi is looking ahead to the next area with action. We feel lucky seeing an active group of whales breaching and showing off to us. You’ll get a feel for the sea in the video—we did not feel sea sick at all but we did take Dramamine before boarding just in case. We were too blown away by what we experienced. We highly recommend Makai Adventures. Check out our videos:

By far the best experience ever!!!! Our captains Kirsten and Micah were so wonderful. They were so knowledgeable and made the experience feel safe, fun, and seamless. The boat was very clean and everything was well organized. We went at the very end of whale season and feel so lucky we had so many amazing sightings. I could not recommend this company and this experience enough! (Micah even took a super cool video of the whales underwater and shared it with us- photo attached!)

Amazing day on the water with captain Levi and Allison. It’s late in the season but they found us whales! The new boat is great. It’s fast so it can get to the whales even when they are far out. Also comfortable ride even when going fast and the bathroom on board is an added bonus not many other small boats have. We will 💯 ride with Makai next season!

We had an AMAZING experience with Makai Adventures whale watching on Tue 2/24/26! Levi and Dani were the captain, crew, whale spotters and educators. Their enthusiasm was authentic and contagious! We met several people who were regular repeat guests with Makai because their operation is so good and positive!

Great experience with a great crew. Levi and Allison knows their boat, the sea and the whales. Rain or shine, they will make the trip to see the whales. We got to enjoy both the Kona low rain and the sun shine during this season. We made some core memories with these guys during the whale season of 2026. Get ready to enjoy the speed and water splashes and come prepared to get wet, that's what completes the experience.

We have been on many whale watching tours. This is by far the best experience we've had. The boat was comfortable and had seats for everyone. Travis and Allison were great! We saw 6-8 whales up close in a competition, mother's with their calves and various other humpbacks. Even though we were running a bit over Travis headed out to where a pod of spinner dolphins were on our way back in. Can't say enough about this tour. Allison even took a video of a mother and baby going under our boat and shared with everyone.

Our captains Levi and Noah were awesome! And the whales knew it, too. So 3 whales came to our boat and literally hung out with us for over 15 minutes. The baby actually came up next to our boat and poked its head up out of the water for awhile to give us some aloha. So cute! Noah got some awesome amazing videos & pictures to share with us and he knew so much about the whales. I don’t know how he can remember all that detail on whales and talk about them the entire 2 hours. We learned so much. This was an unforgettable trip and waaaaay better than the other company we took last year, who’s captain was so afraid of the whales and they can sense it and kept far away from his boat. I highly recommend Makai Adventures and especially with Levi and Noah!

Dani and Levi were amazing! Knowledgeable and kind! Great energy and the whales were stunning! Positioned us perfectly to see them! Even a rainbow came out to add to this incredible adventure! Seeing a mother and calf was priceless!

My boyfriend and I had an amazing whale watching experience with Makai Adventures on my first trip to Maui. Our captain and guide Travis and Levi were incredible. We saw whales within the first five minutes of being out on the water.
They shared so much interesting information throughout the tour and made the entire experience really special. Seeing so many whales in their natural environment was unforgettable.

We had an amazing time aboard the well designed and new Makai; and Allison and Travis were great guides! I cannot recommend Makai Adventures enough and it’s great to support a small local business. The people of Lahaina are resilient and I wish them all the best! Every time we come to Maui, we will make sure to take a whale tour with them!

An amazing experience! We saw numerous whales up close and personal, and even watched them swim under our boat. Levi and Allison make a great team and are a wealth of knowledge about the humpback whales that visit Maui. The boat ride was comfortable and we felt safe throughout the entire experience. Levi and Allison were amazing, very informative and chill, just lovely to chat with, and are absolutely incredible as we experienced a Maui mugging!! The large male humpback spent a WHILE all around our boat, putting on the show of a lifetime. Travis and Allison were Amazing on the boat. We saw lots of whales and even some dolphins and sea turtles.
Eva was great at check in looking out for the safety of all in the meeting space.
